Kalbarri Region
Renowned for stunning rugged scenery, Kalbarri is a fishing, surfing, kayaking and diving hotspot. It’s nestled where the Murchison River meets the Indian Ocean, creating a striking contrast of soaring river gorges and protected swimming bays.
Nearby, you’ll find some of the most magnificent natural landscapes in Western Australia, at Kalbarri National Park. Offering superb walking trails and abseiling spots, the park also boasts over 800 species of wildflowers which create an awe-inspiring display – see them at their best from July to November.
Or, for a journey back in time, head for the town of Northampton where fine heritage buildings and fascinating local history can be explored.
Batavia Coast
The Geraldton region of Australia is part of the spectacular coastline known as the Batavia Coast. At its heart lies the booming city of Geraldton, an excellent base from which to explore the area’s many great attractions.
Just off the coast, the amazing Abrolhos Islands is Geraldton’s very own aquatic playground – one of Australia’s top spots for fishing, diving, windsurfing and swimming, or just relaxing on white sandy beaches.
Those in search of cultural experiences will be fascinated by the ancient culture of the local Indigenous Yamatji people. Or why not take a journey back in time to the great pioneering days with a trip to the historic settlement in Greenough.
Visit in spring time and you’ll also be treated to some of the State’s most stunning displays of wildflowers.
Dongara
Port Denison in the Shire of Irwin is reached on the Brand Highway only a short distance from the Indian Ocean Drive. The twin towns are
separated by the Irwin River which you can paddle through on kayaks or walk around as one of the five Thungura Trails.
The area is rich in history and visitors can walk the Irwin Heritage Trail taking in 28 heritage listed buildings. Located on the coast there are many opportunities to swim, fish, partake in water sports or take a surfing lesson.
South Beach is very popular with families and hosts the annual Kitestock competition each February. It’s an ideal destination to be based during the wildflower season with so many areas in close proximity.
Cervantes & Jurien Bay
The Cervantes and Jurien Bay region of Australia is your gateway to the magical Pinnacles and the southern seaside playgrounds of the Coral Coast. Located just two hours’ drive north of Perth along the new Indian Ocean Drive, its pristine white beaches and clear turquoise waters offer an array of exciting watersports and marine life encounters.
Against a backdrop of picturesque rolling farmland, the area surrounding Cervantes and Jurien Bay also boasts stunning national parks full of native flora and fauna, fascinating historic buildings and a tempting selection of fresh local seafood to sample.
What’s more, an excellent network of sealed roads and four wheel drive tracks make it a real pleasure to explore the Cervantes and Jurien Bay region of Australia.
